Organisational Raids
Best practice in action
Our organisational raids are carefully curated full-day (or two half-day) visits for a group of leaders from one of our member organisations to another from a different sector. Held in the safe, trusted environment WIG is renowned for, these cross-sector visits spark fresh thinking and innovative solutions through experiential learning and shared best practices.
Step outside your comfort zone and make change happen
We believe the best learning happens outside comfort zones. Our organisational raids immerse leaders in completely new systems and perspectives, creating real, issue-driven experiences that challenge conventional thinking. By igniting curiosity and active participation, we expedite learning on key issues, identifying what works and what doesn’t.
Our unique cross-sector approach to peer learning fosters fresh ideas and transformative breakthroughs, equipping participants with actionable insights and lasting networks to drive meaningful impact within their organisations and beyond.

"Experiencing a company with a completely different set-up and ethos to my own was eye-opening. I feel inspired to take back some of what I learnt and make positive changes to my team."
Fiona Pelly
Raid participant to Octopus Energy, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
How it works
Working closely with our members, we design bespoke experiential programmes that address their key challenges and learning priorities. Through tailored design calls, we create impactful cross-sector raids that align with their specific needs and goals. Whether virtual or in person, our raids deliver flexible and transformative learning experiences.
A typical programme includes:
- Pre-raid briefing: Preparing attendees with key context and objectives.
- Immersive visit: A one-day facilitated experience at a host organisation featuring insights from senior professionals, discussions with employees, interactive exchange activities, and a site tour (if applicable).
- Reflection and next steps: A wrap-up session capturing key takeaways and actionable insights.
- Reciprocal raid (optional): The opportunity to host a visit in return, deepening cross-sector exchange.
Who is it for?
Our organisational raids are designed for groups of 12-20 leaders at any stage of their leadership journey. Whether emerging, mid-career, or senior leaders, participants gain invaluable cross-sector insights, fresh perspectives, and practical strategies to accelerate impact within their organisations and beyond.

Key benefits:
- Expanded perspectives: Gain fresh ideas and solutions to common challenges by exploring how others approach them.
- Innovation & problem-solving: Learn from successful innovation strategies, including how organisations experiment, pivot, and implement change effectively.
- Shared learning through appreciative inquiry: Evidence of what has worked and hasn’t, benchmark strengths, celebrate successes, and return with renewed ideas, enthusiasm, and motivation to drive positive change.
- Stronger professional networks: Connect and collaborate with leaders from different sectors, expanding your leadership community for ongoing learning.
- Future-readiness: Anticipate industry shifts and explore future scenarios shaping all organisations, from digital leadership and workforce evolution to the pace of technological change.

Could your organisation benefit from fresh insights to tackle a leadership challenge? Our organisational raids take individuals out of their familiar contexts to learn from a different sector about what has worked and what hasn’t—unlocking fresh thinking, innovation, and cross-sector learning.
Tailored to your organisation’s objectives, each raid provides a trusted space to explore new ideas and strategies. Whether you're in government, an arms-length body, local authority, not-for-profit, higher education or private sector, learning from others can spark solutions and drive impactful change.
Up to 20 senior leaders from your organisation will visit a host organisation from a different sector for a dynamic, interactive programme. Facilitated by our expert leadership team, the experience could include:
- Discussions and insights from board-level and frontline staff
- Presentations from subject experts
- A site tour to see strategy in action
Showcase your organisation’s leadership and expertise while exploring sectoral differences by hosting an organisational raid.
As a host, you’ll provide guidance and support to leaders from another sector, helping them tackle a shared challenge—while also gaining fresh perspectives and valuable opportunities to reflect on and refine your own practices.
You'll welcome up to 20 participants from another organisation to your headquarters (or host a virtual visit) for a dynamic programme of interactive discussions and networking. Facilitated by our leadership team, the raid will be tailored to maximise learning and insight exchange.
We’ll work closely with you to design the agenda, align objectives, and ensure a seamless and impactful experience.
