Author WIG Date 1 Dec 2022
With speakers including Prof. Christopher Hodges, Chair, Regulatory Horizons Council; Andrew Williams-Fry, Member, Regulatory Policy Committee, BEIS and Partner, DT Economics; and Prof. Suzanne Rab, English Barrister, International Mediator and Regulatory Policy Adviser.
The UK’s exit from the EU has been lauded as a unique opportunity to reform and innovate how we regulate. To deliver on this potential, one of the key items of the May 2022 Queen’s speech was the ‘Brexit Freedoms Bill’ which will grant new powers for ministers to overhaul laws retained post transition. This is therefore a crucial juncture to explore the role that regulation can play in an independent UK. WIG is delighted to once again work with our colleagues at the UK Regulators Network, to convene this expert cross-sector panel exploring the nature of post-Brexit regulation, and how it can support other key priorities highlighted across the Queens’ speech such as the levelling-up agenda, economic recovery, and international trade.
Join us for your opportunity to:
- Gain insight on how regulatory reform could help drive economic growth across the UK, and facilitate access to new markets, while still maintaining consumer and environmental protection
- Discuss the importance of setting international standards and regulatory cooperation for a global Britain
