Speakers at the Event

Dr Jonathan Dewsbury is Chief Sustainability Officer at DfE, UK. He is also responsible for delivering the DfE’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy.

Jon is a Senior Civil Servant, Project Delivery Professional and a Chartered Engineer. He has delivered major projects in both the private and public sector. Projects ranging from research, engineering, construction, software, crisis, transformational change, corporate reform and product distribution. He has a passion for innovative solutions and driving change. He was awarded his Engineering Doctorate for novel numerical modelling techniques for complex geometry in geomechanics.  

 

What is the place for young people and teachers in environmental decision-making?  What is the role of education in responding to the climate emergency?  What opportunities exist for action-oriented environmental education?  These are some of the questions that are central to Lynda’s research, which focuses on the environment and politics in science education. 

Lynda's research spans education at all levels.  She is currently conducting a review of primary science education for the Education Endowment Foundation and leading the development of an interdisciplinary education and communication MSc for the Environmental Sustainability Academy at York.  Lynda recently co-led the 2021 British Educational Research Association Research Commission which resulted in an illustrated manifesto for education for environmental sustainability across the UK, with implications for policy and practice in primary, secondary and higher education.  

Jacqui is a divisional director for Net Zero and Social Value, she is a chartered management consultant and experienced business development and consultancy leader. She is passionate about safeguarding the future of our planet and leaving a lasting legacy we can be proud of. Having worked on a number of digital transformation programmes centred on the people side of change across the public sector including Education, she is currently running an internal change initiative embedding net zero and social value into the division as well as working with clients on the wider net zero challenge. Jacqui is part of Tech UK’s Climate Council and co-chairs the Management Consultancies Association Sustainability Group.
