The Future of Agriculture, a Cross-Sector Approach
Author WIG Date 8 Dec 2020
A recording of the WIG Webinar: The Future of Agriculture, a Cross-Sector Approach with Defra, The Environment Agency, Compass Group and the National Farmers Union
With the EU exit transition period coming to a close at the end of 2020, the frameworks governing farmland, fisheries and agricultural produce are set to change. While this has been hotly debated in the media for the past 4 years, we have also seen the Environment and Agriculture Bills passing through the Houses of Parliament.
WIG was delighted to welcome an expert panel of leaders from across the sectors, to help you understand the future landscape of the agricultural and farming sector, and what this means for the natural environment and climate change goals. We will be joined by Kevin Austin, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Environment Agency; Andrew Clark, Director of Policy, National Farmers Union; Janet Hughes, Director of the Future Farming and Countryside Programme, Defra; and Laura McMullen, Global Head of Sustainability, Compass Group.
By tuning into this webinar you will:
- Better understand the role of collaboration between the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, as the UK rethinks its agricultural policy framework post-Brexit
- Learn about the future of agri-business, and how the farming industry is rapidly shifting to support environmental targets such as net-zero, biodiversity net-gain, and plant, animal and marine welfare
