The Economic Outlook and The Future of the Housing Market
Author WIG Date 27 Jan 2023
With Rachael Sinclair, Director of Mortgages and Financial Wellbeing, and Robert Gardner, Chief Economist, Nationwide
As interest rates rise and the cost of living crisis crunches, inevitably the economic outlook and consumer behaviour in the UK is changing. The need for collaboration between policymakers, financial institutions and the broader private sector will be more important than ever.
In this special briefing with Nationwide, we will address:
- How the broad consumer and banking behaviours are changing, and the impact this will have on fiscal policy
- How the challenging economic climate will impact housing demand and the requirement for mortgages
- Ideas on how policymakers can work effectively with financial institutions to support the growth agenda, and help buyers get onto the housing and rental ladders
