Defra’s refreshed 25 year environment plan, published in February 2023, sets out the UK government’s long-term policy framework for improving the environment within a generation. It includes commitments to double resource productivity by 2050, reuse materials and to minimise and manage waste to reduce their impact on the environment. Achieving these ambitious goals, notably 65% recycling target for municipal waste by 2035 and zero avoidable waste by 2050, will undoubtedly require concerted action across the sectors.
With this in mind, WIG is delighted to host an expert panel discussion, to inform your organisation’s resource strategy, and identify opportunities for collaboration. Hear from our expert speakers and share your perspective on issues including:
- The role of recycling collection consistency across regions and nations of the UK in meeting existing targets and driving waste further up the waste hierarchy
- How the environment agency can work with communities and businesses as it seeks to eliminate waste crime
- Where organisations across the sectors can collaborate to develop and accomplish milestones on the path to zero waste and a resource efficient economy
