As the UK plans its economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, electric vehicle production, green home retrofitting, and low-carbon industries such as wind, solar and renewable energy offer hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities. These jobs will be vital to plugging the gap left in the UK’s employment rates, while also supporting the government’s Levelling Up agenda, offering considerable opportunities for areas outside of London and the South East.

Upskilling the UK’s workforce and reskilling existing workers, especially those in fossil-fuel industries, will be crucial to establishing a vibrant green economy. WIG was delighted to welcome an expert cross-sector panel to help you understand the challenges and opportunities of a green recovery, and how key players across industry, government and the not-for-profit sector will need to collaborate to ensure success.

By tuning in you will:

  • Understand the role of green skills in the Levelling Up agenda, and where there are opportunities for growth across the UK
  • Hear how green skills can establish the UK as a world leader in rapidly expanding emerging markets, such as electric vehicles and wind power
  • Gain an insight into the ways in which government, industry, academia and the not-for-profit sector can support the upskilling and reskilling of the UK workforce
