With inflation on the rise, increasing energy and consumer goods prices, sat alongside a rise in National insurance and shortly, council tax too, a large amount of attention has turned to the cost of living crises and its impact on the British citizen. Policy makers and private sector alike are looking for solutions to help ease the burden on lower and middle income households.
To discuss how the Cost of living crisis is impacting, WIG invited the Citizens Advice to discuss how the crises is impacting the population, and discuss potential options available to both public and private sector to help those most at risk from rising costs. You will also hear the private sector perspective on how a leading organisation is seeking to support their customers throughout this challenging period.

Anne Fairweather joined Hargreaves Lansdown in March 2021 as Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy. She leads campaigns on financial resilience and engaging retail investors. Anne has a long career in policy roles in London and Brussels. Over the last decade she has specialised in financial services policy issues for the British Bankers Association, Nest Pensions and Nationwide Building Society. Outside of work from 2016-2022 she was an independent Councillor in the City of London Corporation, working on issues from education and open spaces management to representing the financial and professional services sector on policy and trade issues.
